Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area offer year-round recreational opportunities, located in The Big Horn Mountains off US Highway 14 west of Dayton. With a strong 60-year history of skiing and snowboarding, snowsports will remain a dominant focus of Antelope Butte. The winter season at Antelope Butte begins in mid-December and can extend into mid-April. Antelope Butte is an all-natural snow mountain, is north-facing, and sits at exceptionally high elevation (8,400 ft. base, 9,400 ft. summit). Beyond the winter season, Antelope Butte offers mountain biking, mountainboarding, disc golf, scenic chair lift rides, and host events. The vision is for Antelope Butte is to be a centerpiece of mountain recreation for northern Wyoming.

Fishing opportunities are abundant, and the area is surrounded by numerous streams and alpine lakes teeming with trout and other game fish. The renowned Big Horn River, located 80 miles north, has long been considered the best trout stream in the lower 48—and perhaps the best brown trout fishery in the world. The nearby Tongue River boasts some of the west’s finest runs and riffles as well. Boating enthusiasts enjoy recreation at our regional lakes, including Tongue River Reservoir and Lake De Smet. The winter season offers many thrills, from downhill and cross-country skiing to snowmobiling, ice fishing, and abundant wildlife viewing year-round.
